The first international theater festival was held in 1996 as part of celebrating the 200th anniversary of the construction of Hwaseong Fortress. The festival is one of the largest and most prominent international art festivals held in Korea. Many theatrical works are shown and is garnering more attention each year.

- Venue : Hwaseong Haenggung, KBS Suwon Art Hall, Suwon Outdoor Concert Hall, Hwaseo Park, Gyeonggi Arts Center, etc.

- -20 domestic and foreign theatrical works are selected and shown
